Stupid question

alright..
I bought a 1000 watt amplifier with two 1100 Watt Sub Woofers.
my car is a 1968 ford torino (yes its a hunk of metal machine)
But I love the car very much.
But I only got two 300 watt speakers, and their both in the rear end of the car. theres no holes or ways to put speakers in the front unless I did more work.
Im wondering will this work out?
im thinking about putting the amp in the trunk and the sub woofers both underneath the seats or some where other then have to put them in the trunk. I really dont trust that idea with this old of a car.
both the sub woofers are 10" or whatever it says on the box, and I am pretty sure they wont fit underneath the seat with out having to raise them and its going to probly make it alot harder trying to get in with how the wheel is already.

EDIT: Oh.. btw, I went lookin around, the brand I bought from were Xplod.. both the sub woofers and amplifier... I sorta did some lookin around this site about that thier products suck... is it true? I dont know much about these, but I know pioneer works well. if so I will go back to the store and tell them somethin is wrong with it, I kept the slip and exchange for pioneer sub woofers, but they only had the xplod amplifier there... so im outa luck I guess.... =\

Any suggestions or ideas what I can do?
and will this work?
Thanks,
Tim

Why put them under the seat, and ot in the trunk? I would put them in the trunk, and either bolt or strap them down so the box wont move. Sony xplods are ok, but not great. I have an 800 wat sony xplod amp and 2 sony xplod 6x9 speakers in the back, and I will say I wont go with them again, nor JVC as I've also had bad luck with what I bought from them. Pioneer is pretty good, have a HU from them and its been good. I'd get something other than the xplod amp because it is very under rated, my 800 is actually about 325-350 watts, not 800 watts single channel. For subs, kicker, rockford, jl audio, infinity, and a few others, they're all respectable companies, I like my rockfords.

Thanks man. I really thought I had to take them back and exchange for new amps... thats what im gonna do if something happens to em.. and I guess putting them in the trunk is probly a better idea.. because it wont fit under the seat and I really dont have any where else to put em... Im just a little afraid because my crappy car's gas tank is right underneath the trunk and i've been keeping things away from it, because lately I've been getting leaks from it.
Oh, I dont know what a HU is.. =[ All I know is have a good amplifier with good sub woofers, or thats what I have been hearin from people here..

HU is Head Unit or Deck or CD Player, etc. Is there any place to put a ratchet strap? Thats what I have, a cheap ratchet strap from walmart. Then mount the amp on the top, back or side of the box, and cut your cords to length, looks better and keeps clutter down.

HU = head unit = cd player.
it would sound funky with the only full range speakers behind you, but whatever. i'm guessing you got this stuff from wally world, huh? next time go look around before you start asking about stuff. you can get a lot better for your money.

I have a cussette player =\ but I make it work to play cds. I am going to buy a cd player later on. and it does sound funny with just rear speakers. but maybe when I earn more money, I can buy some speakers to set some where in the front. Thanks, you guys have helped me alot. Im thinking about mounting my amp and speakers on a board or somethin... Im not sure, my dad will figure out what to do. lol

Cassette player would also be a HU. it would be easier setting the amp on the box unless you can find a good place to mount it, always had mine on the box, but I also dont care what it looks like right now since I have a beater grandma car, gettin a new one soon. When you put speakers up front, I would do 5.25" or 6.5" there, try and fabricate them into the doors or something.

ok, Yeah I would need to do some more work with my car, its those older cars when they only made speaker holes in the back, theres no mounts or anywhere else, not even in the dash board =/ Im wondering what do you mean putting it on a box? (sorry I am sorta slow) I've bought those sub boxs that are already premade for you, with the carpet and measurements made up, just need to put it together. I guess right now I really dont have anyone that will help me set it up. my dad is too busy to help me at the moment. and alot of my friends dont know how to do it. only a few people in this town knows alot of cars, and I really dont want to go ask any of them =/ so I probly wont able to get it in for a couple weeks or another week..

For being slow, your just 15, don't worry, your still learning. By the box, I mean the sub box. Most are premade, but you can make them yourself. Why dont you post the model numbers, we can give you wiring diagrams and other help if needed.

yeah your right. I just feel like I am askin a pretty stupid question =/ I gotten my license about a year now, I know the basic stuff, and some about fixing my car. but never speakers and stuff. I'll look for the number and I'll post it here. they did came with instructions like step by step, I'd just raither have some one that knows how to do it. because I am pretty sure I can screw it up.

ok, me and my dad go the thing set up.. took us a good 5 to 6 hours. we arent done, but atleast I know it works well. now im sorta afraid will the subs will blow on me? I am going to set them pretty low, so not to go too loud. but still loud enough to hear well. we are setting both subs in the trunk and the amp I guess. It seems to work well, Just wondering if theres any basic things I need to keep my eye on?

the difference between an amp that puts out 500 watts or setting it for 1000 watts is only 3 dB ....... you are not really losing much, and not having to drive the amp so hard either.

Sony is horrible. I've seen their products sold in flea markets for pete's sake......................:shakehead

if you need car audio stuff from walmart, pioneer is the way to go ( not that DUB crap or whatever they sell nowadays). Online is where you SHOULD go though.

What are the OHm ratings on the amp in the different channels and watts (example: 380 watts x 2 channels), and what are the OHm ratings for the subs (2, 4, 8OHm?)? Thats why I was wondering what the model numbers for the amp and subs are. you might be able to bridge them, or you may have to use them as a series(2 channel). Otherwise we an tell by the model number. If they are hooked up wrong, you can fry an amp a bit faster.

Yes I have had bad experance with sony =/ but I bought a surround system (sorry if I spelt it wrong) for my computer and it works fine, and me and my dad got the subs and amp set up, and it works nice. I would say I raither should of gotten pioneer. but I can take the stuff back if something happens. I really know is one sub is 1100 watts, and I got two and thier the both same. the amp puts out about just 1000 watts. I read somewhere of the model number, but I have to find the slip again. I think me and my dad bridged it, because we took the instructions to some napa guy who knew alot about them. but I'll still post the numbers when I find them.

Sont makes great T.V.'s, home stereos, etc. But car audio isnt one of the strong points. In fact like stated they suck on that aspect. I will tell you that those subs are NOT 1100 watts and the amp is nowhere near 1k watts. The x-plod subs are usually 300rms and the amps is like 250 if its lucky. There are worst out there, and not everyone can afford the greatest. I would get lightning over pioneer.

*shrug* if you say so I guess.
Im not gonna argue what it is or not.
a guy I know bought Sony Xplod products, said they work just fine and theres nothing wrong with them, He never had a problem with them.
and he had these products when a little after they came out into stores around here.
but I am satisfied with the subs and amp, and I really dont want it louder then it is. its loud enough where it shakes the back in of the car.
So I guess Im good, but if I have any questions, i'll come back here and ask.
Thanks
