Top Speed?

I topped my grand prix out at 110 yesterday, does anyone know some easy ways to increase that?

Buy a faster car? J/K, I don't know!

It might help telling us what year and model your car is, Probably has a speed governer on it.

Jeep is right, especially if your tires are not rated to handle high speeds. Save your play for a track, where nobody can get hurt, well, except for you.

97-03 gtp's are limited to 127 i believe. only way to go faster is get a chip or tune the one you have. but then again, who needs to go any faster than that in a grand prix?

my 99 tops at 107...and revs...i had it there a lot, in dc against 350z's and the g35. i ran with them teh whole way, until we hit 107.hahhahahahahaha oh well, dont need to go faster than suspension / tires can keep me alive, do we?

Ok well for starters i have a 2000 GT, K&N intake, Dual Greedy Mufflers. Secondly I was on a closed track so no worries about speeding. How would i go about changing the governer? More speed = more fun!:iceslolan

You still have your GP GT governed yet you have enough mods to keep up with a 350z or a G35....

Mod list please.....Because there is no way you kept up with either one of those cars if your stock and even if your not you would have to do some pretty heavy modding to a GT to hang with those.....

1999 Pontiac GP GT - 200hp/225lb.ft. 3400lbs

2003 Infinity G35 - 260hp/260lb.ft. 3400lbs

2003Nissan 350z - 287hp/274lb.ft. 3100lbs......

As you can see no way in a million years your GT would hang with either of these cars stock for stock especially top end....My GTP feels like it hits a brick wall at 110mph....Mod list please.....

You will have to get a new PCM or get yours reprogramed. Go to some Pontiac Grand Prix performance sites and you will find what you need.

ZZP, 3800 performance...

Yeah, the ZZP 1.0 eliminates the limiter. I have a 04 GP, and I've heard that they will do 138 before cutting out, but I haven't been to a track, so I won't risk it.

Well all I have for Preformance Mods are: K&N Cold Air Intake/ Dual Greddy 4in tip Mufflers. But I have also done many other Mods on the Interior. I'll get back to you with the times.

mod list then...all stock..and yes, i did, wish i had a camera to prove it. it was a good time!!! now i have k&n, ngk's, taylor 8.2 mm wires, and that is it...oh, and lucas oils

this was from cruising on the highway at 6-65 already too...hard to belive i know, but it got the goat a couple years ago. dont believe me, but the peeps i drove against do.

the '04+ gtps are limited at 128mph and the comp-gs at 142mph... with a reprogrammed PCM and the limiter removed, you can bury the speedometer on a the new gen cars(which it registers 145mph)... In fact, my car doesn't switch to 4th gear until about 137mph(though its a normal gtp geared 2.73 and not 3.23s like in the comp-gs)

my 00 gtp cuts out at 124.

I had my stock 02 gtp up to 145 when I let off of it

my 06 gp. tops out a 110mph as well. did it on a dyno. pfyc.com has an ecu w/o a speed gov i beleve.
