Old Grand prix

Hey everybody.I am finnally sixteen and a whole bunch of opportunities have just opened up for me.Especially driving.My father stopped driving his 1988 grand prix in 1998 and I have been automotive trade at my school but can somebody ive me an idea as to what I would need to do to this car to make it run.It has been sitting outside all these years.Please help me,

First of all pull the plugs and spray some light oil into the cylinders, and let it sit for a day or two (WD-40 will work) this will lube the rings and make sure that they break free of the cylinder walls. Change coolant, hoses, belts, flush radiator, change old vacuum lines and then change the oil. A clean air filter is essential as is a new PCV valve. Once this is done put on new ignition wires and a new set of plugs. A new rotor and distributer cap, if it has a distributer is also a good idea. If it is a distributerless ignition system check the ignition module and coils. The coils may have gone bad as has the module and will need replaced.

As for the transmission, change the fluid and filter although a complete fluid change may be in order if it has sat that long. Finally if this is rear drive change the fluid in the differential. I can't remember if it is a rear driver or not.

Before you drive it check all tires and brakes and lube the chassis well at every fitting. Once you do all this you should have a good car to drive. Flushing the power steering fluid and changing brake fluid may be a good idea before you actually drive the car.

by plugs do you mean fuses?

He's referring to the spark plugs.
