have you checked door switches, they are a sore spot in rangers.

I didn't see a typical "plunger switch" in the hinged side of the door, where is the switch located? and is it hard to replace if broke?

this is my first ranger ........so i have to ask the basic questions!!!

Had a 94 Ranger once and it had a push type switch activated by both passenger and driver side doors. Also there's some sort of a time delay that turns the dome light off a few seconds after closing the door.

Common problem on Rangers. My 98 did it for a while, until I cleaned the switches. The switches are located inside the latches on the back side of the door.

Hey there.

Well I had the same problem on my 95 Ranger.

The first place to look would be on the passenger side door switch. You will have to remove the inner door cover, reach inside and feel the wires that go to the switch (towards the lock), you have to turn the switch to get it out.

On mine I had a bad switch, if your lucky you will only have to clean it with electrical cleaner.

It it is bad you can either leave it out or replace it with a new (I left mine out).

You might have to check the drivers side too, but my bet is on the passenger side.
