question for ALL USA evo owners.

hello guys and girls. My wife has an 05 evo and she loves it. Unfortunately, mitsubishi is shit at honoring their warranty. I have had NOTHING but challenges with them regarding warranty work( they did replace the battery when it went out less than a year later). This is my question. I really,REALLY want to know ALL AND ANY issues any of my fellow evo owners have had with their evo's. Our car is COMPLETELY stock. Only thing we have done is get slightly bigger tires, which a misubishi parts worker said was no big deal and would not be an issue. Our car has always made kind of a clanking noise when the clutch pedal is not engaged since we bought it brand new with 10 miles on it. I was told that was normal being it was a performance car. When the pedal is pushed in, it goes away. It is not very noticeable but I notice anything on a car. The tires wore out at about 14k miles. When i called and told them that i was having negative camber issues, this is what the parts worker said to me; when ypou lower a car, it is going to increase camber and wear faster-car is not lowered.2 well, when you change the rims and go bigger, the geometry is altered and will increase negative camber-at that point the car was as is from the dealer.3 well, it is a high performance car and i should expect it. we had our 12k adjustment and was told that EVERYTHING looked fine and their were NO issues. at 14k the tires were bald on the inside, 3 of them only. I was told that it does not take much to knock the specs out of allignment. I said by that theory, the tires should be down to the wire in about 4k miles more. The guy tells me tha it is possible that it could get knocked BACK into specs and could go a few more thousand miles. WOW, what BS. now the car is starting to grind slightly when shifting into 5th gear. the car has 41k miles and is driven by my wife 90% of the time. the other 10% is me driving and, yes i do like to have a little fun but I DO NOT RACE IT. I just want to know how many other evo owners out there are getting screwed by misubishi. I really think some sort of action could be taken against mitsubishi if they really are screwing over their customers. I just have heard quite a few stories here in the phoenix area that are really making me question mitsubishi's 10 year/100k warranty. PLEASE, any issues you have had i would like to know. If you live in phoenix area, I REALLY want to know since we probably go to the same dealers. Thank you everybody very much for taking the time to read this and responding..Sincerely,
Jesse S

Have you been going to the same dealer, or several?

The fifth gear grind is pretty common. Mine does it if I am tached up high when going into fifth. I am not sure if you know about evolutionm.net? A lot of Evo owners are on there with the same problem. I have heard that in some cases it is worse after the dealer "fixes" it. I bought mine used and the fifth gear syncro had already been replaced and a new transfer case put in all in less then 13k miles.
What I found to help avoid the fifth gear grind is to shift lazely into fifth and it won't grind. What I mean is take it out of fourth and then just kinda let it fall into fifth instead of pushing it in. Good luck with getting it fixed though.

The dealership fixed the 5th gear syncro and some other problem they discovered in the tranny. They also replaced all 4 brake calipers because some of the paint was fading. They said it was covered under warranty and few dealers say it is or give some bullshit excuse for it. The dealership i went to was awsome. They were unlike any othermitsubishi dealer i had gone to. i plan on keeping it stock for a long time. I like having the warranty with no excuses and it is fast enough. I have 2 young kids and they are with me most of the time and i am not goibng to race with them in the car.

Our Yokohama ADVAN A046 are UTQG rated 160. They will wear quickly. Mine was near the cords at 16K mi. I had rotated them every 4000 miles and they looked pretty good at 12K. I was guessing they'd last til 20-25K. Maybe the compound is softer near the cords?
I have since switched to Sumitomo HTR Z II, 255/40 R17. They stick pretty good, but not as amazing as the A046's. However, they wear much better, they soften the ride slightly, they are wider and protect the rims better, and they work better then the A046 in the cold.
Although not recommended, I found the Sumitomo HTR Z II, 255/40 R17's fit the stock 8" wheels pretty good, with no uneven wear after 11K mi. I've been rotating they every 6K.

I think you should come clean on how you've been driving the car...
I drive my Evo hard every day and only managed 40% off the rubber after 10,000 miles...

Well quite honestly..
i think your tire story is "a lil off"
I DO RACE MY EVO..and i dont go through tires like you claim too
I usually race every weekend..one or two races..but i take care of my car.
as for your fifth gear..i have never had that problem..but then again i have alot of mods..
do you have any mods on yourz? if not i could recomend some of the ones that i have used?:loser:
