Engine Shake, any ideas?

K, I have a 95 SOHC and somewhat randomly the engine will shudder (pretty bad, shakes the whole car). It sounds and feels like the engine is about to jump out of the car. Any help?
-Engine will do it in all gears at any temp. (more noticeable when i throw it in reverse without giving it gas, and when stopped at a stop light, then accelerating).
-While watching the engine it kicks back when this happens
-Not throwing out any codes but I couldn't get it to communicate with a scanner either (tried a couple scanners)
-Engine RPM will drop if it happens several times in a row

You checked the motor mounts?

They look fine and were replaced about 2 years ago, that wouldn't affect the RPM would it?
