1965 Impala Brake Convers

Hey guys, i'm trying to figure out what model chevy could i remove the front disc brake to put on my 1965 impala.

I did one on my '65 back in 1980, used the whole works from a '70 Kingswood (Impala) wagon. Since you are going from a single to dual master cylinder, you need the plumbing too. The '70 donor car had a t-block that split off the front and rear nicely, mounted in the stock position too.

Since there are few older donor cars around, the alternatives are an aftermarket system that has everything, they go for $450 and up to $1000 or measure up something out of a junkyard if you're handy. Just about anything newer is "front steer" (linkage forward of the crossmember, your car is a rear steer.

But if I had to do one today and couldn't find a '70 Impala, I would grab something aftermarket. Just make sure it accepts standard GM pads and calipers so you can get parts easily.

i have a 66 chevelle that i converted to front wheel power disc brakes for pennies. Info was gleaned from an article called "Knucle Sandwhich" from an old hot rod magazine. The 64-72 intermediate A bodies can be converted using the front spindle from a 70-79 camaro/firebird using existing upper/lower control arms. It changes front end geometry and improves handling. All parts are still available from gm new. Whether your vehicle falls into this category i dont know but similar procedure is no doubt possible. I have article if ur interested.
