94 s-10 pickup flexplate keeps breaking

this truck is a 2wd 4 cyl single cab, we have put 1 acme flexplate and 3 napa flexplates in and they all break. My boyfriend has done plenty of moter, and trannies in his lifetime. The truck also has a new jasper moter in too w/ a rebuilt trannie that a garage did for us. Any ideas why this tiny truck would be breaking so many flexplates??? We are stumped. The guide pins are in place in the engine block, it has all new nuts, bolts and washers, he has torqued it to specs, the only thing he did not get to do yet is to see if it ran true or not.:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I would try a GM dealer OEM flywheel.

Make sure the dowls are in the block & the crank is not wobbled out where the torque converter hub goes

I would like to say a big Thank You to everyone for their help with this truck. The update is that we got a GM flexplate for this truck and it has run for two weeks without breaking, just now we got no spark...LOL...:banghead:

You are welcome nd thanks for letting us know how it went
10-4 on the dealer OEM flywheel.

On no spark check fuses and for voltage to coil and dist and ign module..
Is the dist rotor turning ?

on the spark dealing..unfortunately this truck doesnt have a distributor, we have a coil pack. The moduale was replaced ran a few days then nothing. Replaced the moduale again and still wont fire up. The moduale was tested and is suppose to be fine. The crank sensor is brand new. We checked the fuses and they are all fine.

Any codes?
Do you have 12 volt on ign feed to pink wire to ign module?
And good ground on black wire?
Is the crank sensor trigging a rpm signal in the pcm?
Are you still using them napa parts?

pcm?????Yes we do have 12 volts at the pink wire and there is good ground. No napa parts...lol.....We took off the coils and put a meter to where the coils would plug into the moduale we get 12 volts there but cant see if its pulseating. We only have 7 coils sitting here...lol...We just dont know what the specs are for the crank sensor but when we test it we do get a pulse reading from it.

We have a test computer for the truck and tried that one and the truck did the same thing. Our next step that we are going to try is to see if theres pulsating power to the moduale but we got to get some stuff first for it. Thank You so much for this assistance here. We are totally mindblown on it.

Check =

*CKP (Crankshaft Position Sensor)

*CMP (Camshaft Position Sensor)

*Wiring harness at both CKP and CMP to ensure nothing broke or was accidentally disconnected when doing the multi flexplate replacement training excersize

LOL oh that is so funny how you phrased that about the flexplate. You have cheered me up. On the crank sensor we put a brand new one in. Where would the cam one be located? (or does this year of truck have one)? the moter that we have is a 2.2 Jasper moter in it and not even 5,000 miles on it. We will definitly check those wires out.

I'm actually not sure of a '94 has one or not, but if it does, it will be on the driver side, ahead of the oil filter, below the intake, on the block.

We swapped the computer and the truck didn t start. Then we had a friend over who swapped the wires back to the origional computer and still no start. Then he switched it back to the test computer and the truck started. Now the truck wont start again at all. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Is this weird or what...?

Maybe the test pcm is bad.
Try it on another truck or give it the old tap/twist test.
Like tap on it and grab te sides and give it a twist.
Are you getting any codes?
have you checked for rpm signal to PCM?

:banghead:Well here is another terrible update. We were able to get our hands on a obd1 scan tool. It said no communications make sure key is turned on. Well (lol) the key was turned on and it said this with 3 different computers. The fuses are fine. We did find a purple wire that went from the ignition switch to the solenoid that was burnt. We are totally dumbfounded here. We bypassed the connector for the harness to see if its in that connector and still the same issue. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
