headlights/foglights wiring question

Heres what im looking to do. Maybe its already been done, maybe not.

Im sure anyone with stock fogs knows that the fogs only come on with the headlights when the fog switch is on. I want to make it so that they come on with the parking lights too. How hard? Write-up? I searched for a few minutes before work but didnt really find much.

I know its pretty easy to just make it so them come on whenever i press the fog switch, just wire them directly to that switch, but i dont know how exactly to make it so they will come on with the parking lights and/or headlights, but not the off position.

im not completely noob when it comes to wiring, ive installed a few sets of fogs before, but always to an independent switch with constant power. Also car audio, but thats not realy relative.

I'm not exactly sure how to do what you're asking, but I'm pretty sure that the Stealth's fog lights come on with just the parking lights.

Something that's kind of close to what you want, but not exaclty, is the snake eyes method http://www.3000gtvr4.com/pages/snake.html. I did it to mine and really like how it looks.

well i dont know how it works in your state but i know in pa its illegal to have fog lights and high beams on at the same time. not trying to burst ur bubble im just letting you know. cuz it might cause a problem when its inspection time.

Thats why you shut them off at inspection time. ;)

i really like the snake eyes look too, but kinda wanted to avoid having any extra toggle/switches. hmmm...

that law seems kinds pointless though. i mean, you only have your highs on when no ones in front of you, so who will the fogs bother???

Yeah it is retarded. Actually I had fogs on my Bronco II wired to a toggle. It was either on or off. When I took it to get inspected not a word was said about them. And I am in PA>

The wiring would be relatively simple. The easiest way to do this would to go buy an automotive relay. Wire a constant 12V supply (where 12V is being supplied no matter what position the ignition is in) to the input of the switch in the relay, run the output of the switch to the fog light, and ground the fog light. Then find a power source that turns on only when the parking lights turn in (i.e. a wire that goes to your parking lights or interior gauge lights) and connect that to the coil of the relay and ground the other side of the coil. There are many different ways to do it, but this is probably the easiest.

Thats wierd.. my car (with the jdm wire harness) the fogs turn on when i flip the switch.. the headlights dont have to be on?? i thought that was normal??

I'm from Canada. I don't think we have a law like that here, and we don't have to pass any inspections in the province I live in.

so, that means that they must have a relay somewhere already, exept its not getting constant power, and the coil is linked to the headlights...

anyone know where that relay would be? If i can find that, i should just be able to disconnect the coil wires and run wires to the fogs/dash lights instead.

i know there are relays somewhere, but i don't have any wiring diagrams. What I was talking about was like going to radioshack and buying one of those 12V automotive relays and just using that. That's just a way of doing it without having to trace any wires or study any wiring diagrams.
