Restoring a 89 Camero. I replaced the pull-down motor, and pull-down mechanical assembly. I got it to work, but only when it pulls it down. It will not come back up. The motor and mechanical assemble seem to be fine now.
Any suggestions as to what I can try to test this and fix this problem would be great.
Right now it is so far down that it will not grab the trunk at all. Nothing I do seems to be able to get it to come up. Very frustrated with this one.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Check your wiring and the little plastic activation switch that the hatch loop pushes on when it is put down. Either the switch is stuck in the depressed position or the wiring is broken/disconnected.

If any one can send me this it would be greatly appreciated. I bought Chilton repair manual and it is pretty much worthless for this.

I don't have an 89, but my 88 diagram should be the same. 1 hot wire from the fuse block, hot all the time. The unit grounds internally depending on its position, through the frame. Make sure there is no rust on the mount holes.
The link blindxeyed sent you to thirdgen.org is a very good one. If you are having a problem, go there.
