City of God is definitely my favourite independant film.

Li'l Ze is mean..

my favourite imdependant documentary was called 6 Degrees of Seperation (i think) and it was about none other than 6 Degrees of Serperation. it was this girl who got people to apply to be the person she found, and then set about finding them through 5 intermediaries. i think she made it in 7. he was a mongolian goat farmer or something.

wow! thanks!

i looked everywhere and couldn't find it, there were other independant films made about it. this one was really good though, the girl would film herself explaining who she was going to meet and who she was contacting them through, it was made more interesting because it was "pure". as in, it wasn't glamourised or anything, it was a girl testing the theory without spending lots of money or anything.

it was on at like 3am when i saw it, pretty obscure film.

I wouldn't call stephen chow films independent film-making.

if we're talking foreign films, The Science of Sleep is good.

it's about this guy who's mexican and he moves to france. he's fascinated by dreams and does things to try and control them, and it's all about his dreams and his inventions and stuff. it's a bit confusing at first, but it's really really funny. definitely worth a watch, i got to see it for free and it was great.

they're not really independent films either but a lot of things that Film 4 produce seem to hit the spot for me.
I mean, a lot of my favourite films have come from Film 4.

I'm learning to like independent films. My boyfriend is a huge independent film fan. He even has gone as far as to start his own independent film organization with hopes of having a local independent film festival someday soon. I normally only watch the ones that he's seen at the film festivals he attends. I normally only watch documentaries when someone makes a suggestion.
