Just dropping in to say whats up and the car is dead again but what can you do I think its just the slave cyclinder. the car starts up and drives for a while but then after a little while the clutch starts slipping and then the car wont go anywhere so after i bleed the clutch it works fine but alittle while later it starts doing it again....

Apparently your sucking air into the line somewhere, if it is the slave cylinder, I have one you can have but it's from a 92 4G63. If its the same one you have let me know. Also I have the brake line that goes from the slave cylinder to where it connects to another line.

Well I'm in houston and im not sure if that would fit on mine. I have the basic tool is it easy to change the slave cyclinder.

changing the slave is nothing to do... you could just rebuild it, piece of cake and only costs like $12

check your lines, make sure there are no pinholes... have someone push the clutch (car off) while you look at the lines. if there are pinholes, they might not leak until the lines are pressurized.

Now that doesn't really explain why the clutch is slipping. The master/slave use pressure to release the clutch. If one of them is bad, you shouldn't be able to shift gears if they don't build pressure.

Now what might have happened is, one of them is going bad (slowly, usually the master in this case). When they go bad slowly, what happens is; the clutch releases enough for you to shift gears but not completely, so it wears down the lining on the clutch disk (and puts heat marks on the pressure plate and possibly flywheel). Now, that means that you're clutch will need to be replaced as well. What happens in this case is, the clutch is starting to wear out, but is able to maintain friction while the clutch is still cool. After driving a distance, the clutch surface becomes heated and can't do a good job maintaining the friction it needs. Now what'll happen here is, you'll be driving along and come to a stop, when you go to accelerate; the clutch will slip. =New clutch and master cylinder.

Check under your dash for any signs of fluid. That is usually the best indicator of a worn out master cylinder. If it is bad, replace it and start saving for a clutch. I had this happen in my Stealth... 3 clutches in 2 months, and I couldn't figure out why. I got it back the last time and the master cylinder completely collapsed on the way home. I talked to a trans tech for AAMCO and he explained it.

Well I just got this message but i have already replaced the slave cyclinder. It was very easy. The car is still doing what it had been doing. I looked behind the motor to see if could see a leak but the back has a lot of fluid on there. And not able to pinpoint the spot where its coming from. After I bleed it here is no problems but. Is there anything that i can poor into the cyclinder to plug the hole or will i just have to go through very slowly and try to find it that way.

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING INTO THE FLUID. You must make sure the fluid doesn't get contaminated. You're going to have to trace it down. There are only small bits of rubber hose, and that's probably where the problem lies (if it isn't the slave/master).

What do you mean "I looked behind the motor to see if could see a leak but the back has a lot of fluid on there." Can you take a pic or help us know where it is? Are you sure that it's brake fluid (clutch fluid)?

So if its not leaking from the slave the it would have to be the master correct. I looked behind the intake manifold on the firewall where you can see all of the metal lines that are there. Its is for surely not oil and the only lines that pass through that area is th clutch. It seems to have the same smell that brake fluid has and same feel to it. I'll try to post a picture later tonight I'm at school right now.

i would say the master because my car did the same thing.. the new one should come prefilled... that was on my last car.

Correct, that is most likely the master cylinder. One of the seals in it has gone out and it will need to be replaced. Most of the time, you can look under the dash and there will be fluid too; though not always.

I've never had them come "prefilled". Mine have always been empty and required "benchbleeding".

Benchbleeding is always fun...

And since when do master cylinders come prefilled Mike?

Since Christ had the messales...where have you been?

and sometimes I bench bleed for fun.

I adjusted the clutch pedal last night and when for a drive and it held the hole time but a while after that it started shaking some. Or felt like it was trying to catch but was bouncing around trying to do so. But it grabed and it held it. Im going to assume that is because pedal didn't have to go down as far and was able to semi plug where ever its leaking from.
