gunze/tamiya paints

i've got the repsol lancia delta from hasegawa, and it says to use gunze sanygyo aqueous hobby color or mr. color paints. but i use tamiya 's paints (acriylics), and can't find a cross reference chart from gunze to tamiya. do any of you guys no where i can get a cross ref chart? thanks in advance.

u can use the equivalent Tamiya paints, u have to use your initiative ie: for silver use Tamiya X-11 or XF-16, for black use X-1, for clear red use X-27, for clear orange use X-26 and so on

where it states colour H8 Silver, use Tamiya X-11 Silver(lights and trim) or XF-16 Flat Aluminum(engine), H12 use X-18 Semi Gloss Black or XF-1 Flat Black depending where it is and so on. refer to the chart for matching tamiya colours, but if there isnt a matching tamiya colour, use the closest one to hand as ive done for the last few years. with your experience building tamiya kits with Tamiya paints, for Fujimi and Aoshima kits, paint it as thou your building a Tamiya kit

before u start the kit, i suggest go through the whole instruction sheet by replacing those "H" numbers with corresponding Tamiya "X" or "XF" numbers by crossing it out or tippexing(correction fluid) it out and so when u come to build the kit, and when u glance at the sheet to get the next part, u would then notice the new corresponding tamiya paint colour

In my opinion, you can substitute it with some Tamiya paints, but, once you try the Gunze paints you won't go back to the Tamiya ones. It's not only the long list of different colors and different lines of paints, if not, the quality and the ease to apply. For car models, they have a lacquer line called Mr. Color with some small spray cans specially designed for car models. I don't now being also Japanese stuff, that Gunze products are harder to get items than Tamiya. They even have an impressive line of tools like airbrushes.

In Japan when you change to the dollar it's like to get a jar of Gunze paint for just one dollar, they are being sell there at 120 yen.
