All right is this guy pulling my leg? I was discussing a turbo i might buy for my 94 camaro but he said why buy a turbo for 3.5 grand when you can hook a leaf blower up and get a cheap 3.5 boost? What? is this at all possible? he said he has seen it done but i dont think it would work and if it did would it then run like shit or what?

There was a video on you tube where some guys were doing dyno tests using a leaf blower to force air into the inlet tract. They did get an increase in power (20 or so HP) on 4 cylinder cars. But the leaf blower they used ran on 115v AC power (and they suck some amps too). If you were to use a 12V DC leaf blower I doubt it would move enough air to matter AND, the extra strain on the alternator would drag the engine down (takes more HP to make electrical power than you'd get in return).

leaf blowers and electric superchargers don't really work. (like Morely said, there is some gain to be had from a powerful blower)

otherwise, they don't work. a supercharger (belt driven) or turbocharger is the way to go if you're following the FI route. just don't forget, to turn the boost about ~8-12psi you'll need stronger internals.
