Oil Filter Adaptor???

I just did my first oil change on a 85 635csi that I recently purchased.........now for the obvious question if you have one. Does anyone make a spin on filter adaptor for these cars? I spent 30 min trying to get the bolt started from the top of the housing into the canister. Unless you have 11 ft long arms that are made of rubber it is almost impossible. It looks like the filter console is bolted to the block, so is there another model of this motor that has one that utilizes a spin on?

Failing that, I noticed that the 535 with the M30 uses a canaster that points up (or at least up-ward). Does anyone know if it will clear in the 85 E24 engine bay? That I can get at my local Pic-n-Pull.
