Sorry Yogs - you have your opinion and I have mine on the issue of 'restorative justice.'
So I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this issue, mate. I have reasons for my position and you clearly have reasons for your opinion.
But clearly we respect each other's point of view enough to know that when we ain't going to a common ground then we can both hold our respective positions and respect that we have the right to our opinions and the right to express those opinions.

A shooting has been reported in the US state of Maryland.
A man is thought to have been hit in the chest in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a bus stop in Montgomery County, on the outskirts of Washington.
The shooting occurred on a main road, Connecticut Avenue, about 25km (15 miles) north of the US capital just before 0600 local time (1000 GMT).
The road has now been cordoned off by police, causing heavy traffic jams during rush hour.
Several shootings in the area have been attributed to a sniper operating around Washington.
The victim was taken to hospital by helicopter.
The killer has often struck near main roads to make his getaway easier. The scene is close to those of five previous shootings.
Police have appealed to a mystery caller thought to be the sniper or an accomplice to contact them.
A message given in a phone call on Monday was unclear, they said.

damn, he could actually get away with this and come out ahead. Nobody really knows what he looks like, who he is, or anything. If he got the money and stopped, it would be very hard to track him and he'd have a ton of money. Even though the money would probably be marked and the whole works, but it would still be hard to get him. :bloated:

ok, this is the way I see it. This guy is asking for money just for the fun of it. Anybody as inteligent (and it hurts me to say this) as he is knows that the police don't pay up on ransoms, ever, and that when they say they are going to it is always a trap. This guy is just pulling us along for his own twisted entertainment. He doesn't care about money, he cares about publicity. The more media attention he gets the more he is going to do it. He is like a child.
As far as my speculations as to who this guys is I have a few. He obviously has a very good knowledge of the roads and routes in the area and he is able to blend in very well. So, I start to think of people that have a deep knowledge of a local road system and then match that with someone who would have a reason to be as angry and twisted as he is and I come up with the idea that he may be an ex-postal worker.
Seriously, think about it. Postal drivers have to know a lot about the roads in town (ie every road), and some of them have snapped before. Plus, who would suspect a mail truck. Are cops really going to search through all of the mail bags? It is just a thought.
