Hey,

to make some variation in my projects I picked up the next kit:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/doos_en_inhoud_001.jpg

It's a custom model from the 1960 Chevrolet Fleetside, from AMT.

nice kit with a lot of parts:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/doos_en_inhoud_002.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/doos_en_inhoud_003.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/doos_en_inhoud_004.jpg

Altough the model is a custom version already... I wanted to customize it more. I think the Pegasus wheels looks great on the Chevy:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/doos_en_inhoud_008.jpg

There'll be more modified but for now I wanted to search for reference pics and think about a colour. If someone have pics for me please contact me.

Kris.

This is one of AMT's better kits along the range of their '62 Bel Air, '67 Impala SS, and '70 Monte Carlo SS. It should build up without much fuss at all!! A nice metallic blue would look awesome with those wheels!:)

Thanks for information! And Metallic blue seems to be nice. I think that will be the colour for this one.... Thanks!

i am in the process of trying to take it apart carfully while trying not to break anything at the same time!
and i was going to resin cast the parts and if you check it i believe with slight trimming it can fit this kits body-

Started on the engine:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_002~2.jpg

I'm still searching for reference pics of this engine because I wanted to make all the wires etc.

I also worked on the body. First I cleaned the holes in the thrunk:
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_003~2.jpg

Mirror hole cleaned:
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_004~2.jpg

And the hood. I wanted to remove the lights in the hood but want to keep the typical shape of it. It's not finished yet but here's an impression:

Interesting look, with the hood and no lights! Here's a reference pic I dug up:

http://richardlewis.is-a-geek.com/pictures/thumbs/images/chev/57chev/210/210-050401-03.jpg

It's essentiall the same engine as the '53-54 Corvette--if you wanted to do a mild custom job on the engine, you could put the 3 side draft carburetors on it to add some flash to the engine bay.

Time for some update.....

I spent a lot of time to make the body ready for paint.

I removed the sidemarks and the doorhandles. Also the hood is finished now after a lot of puttywork.

After this I primed the body:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_001~3.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_002~3.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_003~2.jpg

I'm thinking about to paint it in Pearl Light Blue made by Tamiya
Here's a simular real model:

I think it looks great :)

Ok guys, search for your sunglasses before you watch the (blurry) pics :P

The body now got his colour. Pearl Light Blue by tamiya.
I must say that is looks better than I thought it will be.... Also clearcoated it with Pearl Clear.

New update:

I wanted to make the thrunk in real wood so I searched in the LHS for it. I found 1mm sheets of real wood :)
So we take the thrunk:
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/laadbak_001.jpg

First I made a template of it and cutted it out of the wood.
After that I made the strips on it.
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/laadbak_002.jpg

Than I covered it with some BMF and clearcoated it.
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/laadbak_003.jpg

That's it.

I also polished the body. I really love the shine on it and this colour is very nice in the sun!

Made some progress :)

First little detail was paint the logo inside red.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_001~1.jpg

After that I painted the windowtrims in flat black. This time I used the Tamiya Paint marker for it. It works very easy and the paint is easy to remove. Got this done is less than 2 minutes!

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_002~1.jpg

The things on the side (don't know the name english) are covered with some BMF. After that I also placed the windows.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_003~1.jpg

The thrunkdoor was to much polished and the plasticcolour shines through it so I fixed it with some BMF :) I think this problem is nice solved now :) I'm also thinking to paint the Chevrolet logo in black or something.....
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_004~1.jpg

Talking about black..... I was not a big fan of the body colour in the enginebay so I painted it all in flat black.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_005~1.jpg

I also finished the engine. I used some sparkplug wires and the rest of the engine was just stock, exept for the colours of course.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_006~1.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_007~1.jpg

And a dryfit:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_009~1.jpg

I also added the licenseplates on the front and rearbumper:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_010~1.jpg

Just like this kit :)

Glad to see you keeping the straight 6, it's nice and unique.

I must admit the black window trim is a little off-putting, but I'll wait and see how the whole truck comes together... just seems weird to have chrome trim all over the truck but not around the windshield.

Dean23
05-30-2007, 09:54 PM
I agree with tigeraid..the black trim doesnt work for me either. I think chrome window trim would be better! It would work well witht he chrome grille wheels and chrome cab louvers. If you are going to ppaint the chevrolet letters on the tailgate, may I suggest going with white or silver....I think it would look better!

Made some progress last days.

First the frontgrille. I painted it black and cleaned it up so the chrome looks came back. I also installed the headlights.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_001.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_002.jpg

Also the engineroom is almost finished:
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_003.jpg

The chassis is also finished. I only have to lower it. (will be a problem...)
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_004.jpg

The lightunits had to be in body colour but the paint was empty so I painted them Silver Leaf. I also painted the chevrolet logo in white.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_005.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_006.jpg

From some stainless steel I made 2 new exhaust tips on a lathe. I also made some sharper edges on it.
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_007.jpg

and this is how it most be
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_008.jpg

I also finished the interior. First I painted it flat white. The floormats are painted black. The doorpanels etc and dashboard are white and lightblue/grey with BMF strips.

The steeringwheel is stolen from a '70 Dogde SuperBee

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_009.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_010.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_011.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_012.jpg

And a overall view:
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_enzo_013.jpg

It will be a hard job to lower this chassis. After 3 hours trying and thinking how to lower it I didn't managed to make a dessision. Now I'll lower it the easiest way and try to work clean.

Next update it will be finished :)
