Hey everyone,

Im new to the forum. I have some questions about the clear bra that can be put on cars now. Like the one I see the most is made by 3M. Can anyone give me some info? Are you satisfied with it? Does it make the paint look dull? And what is the price range for it to be installed by a dealer or autobody shop?

P.S. I am wanting to put it on my new 2007 Mazda3.

Thanks so much,
Amy:grinyes:

Hello and welcome to the forum!!! Congrats on the purchase or you 2007 Mazda 3!! Did you get the sedan or the hatch? Just askin.

As for the clear bra... I have heard some good reviews about them but I have also read some bad reviews as well. Working at the mazda dealership here where I am from we have seen these from time to time and as I see it, after a while of being on the car it does make it look dull and the worst part about it is that it will start to change to a yellow tint and want to start pealing off at the edges. Not to mention that the edges will collect dirt and debris and make them stand out like a sore thunb.

As far as pricing and installation I wouldnt know how much that would be. I just dont think that it will be worth it. However its your car and thats just my:2cents:

Hi Showstopperz,

Thank you for the welcome! My car is the Sedan. Its black and so people are givin' me crap about how its gonna get damaged by rock chips. I have had 2 black cars before this and really there was never a problem with them other than the normal.

I dont think I am going to do the clear bra, I agree with you..its spendy, gives a dull look and has to be re-done after 5-6 years. I just think when there is ever a time in a couple years (or more) that I will just get it touched up if needed!

Thanks for your response:p

mine has one, car color is galaxy grey, hatchback... u cant even tell it's on there. i'd say it's worth it if u drive on torn up highways alot, itll save u some paint chips.

I can agree with this. I have seen it at the dealership I work at as well. I would personally reccomend not following too close to big trucks, and maybe a touch up done in a few years. I personally dont think the clear bra is the ultimate solution.

These films have been popular with bikes for years.

They used to turn yellow and crack and gather dirt at the edges where it has shrunk slightly and the glue is exposed.

The newer ones are so much better. 3M is a reputable brand with very good research and developement so if your going to do it, go with the best, not the most affordable.

I have a carbon fibre film that has shrunk slightly but is still in good condition after 3 years. no cracks or discoloration where the real carbon has gone yellow.

I don't have the clear bra, but I know some folks who do and it makes a big difference. I have Rockblockers on my headlights. I've had them almost as long as I had the car. The headlights still look brand new compared to other 3's I know.

I plan to have the car repainted next year and have the clear bra installed.

i had a 1st gen clear bra back in 1996 on my old civic HB.. it was great!!

yeah it turned alil yellow... but it did its job really well so alil yellow hue was okay w/ me... until i gota CF hood.. heh

but i plan on getting one for my 3... if u can put on large vinyl decals u can put tha clear bra on yourself.. its not brain science
