somewhat decent car

When i get sixteen i want to get a decent car. no jappanise or foreign crap, i want some american enginering. If camaro what year and so on

well before buying a car, you'll need to master some language skills in order to put together a sentence, but if your looking for an f-body i'd say go for a late 80's third gen or a mid 90's LT1, both of those are affordable and plenty of fun..also a lot of people are gonna suggest a V6 since they assume all young teenage drivers are stupid and reckless (which is mostly true) but if your not a complete idiot you could probably handle a V8..

thats what im sayin lol. Every 3rd gen ive seen has been crap except for guys that have totally redone the car. Im not trying to talk crap. Thats just what Ive seen around here.

Well from experience ive had with mine....its been heaven.....absolutly no problems....besides an alternator and such...
The best way to find a reliable third gen is to get one with low mileage and do the basic maintanance on from there. Just be patient, i found mine with 67,000mi.

The second best reliable car is (i know i know) a mustang.....no joke those things are beasts,

its true that most thirdgens have been beat to crap and not taken care of but you can still find those few out there that are in good shape and have been taken care of. Like mine :) bought it with 84k on it and its very clean. Motor runs perfectly and the only major thing i have done as far as maintenance is a fuel pump. Parts are cheap for them too. If you are half way mechanically minded and dont mind learning more then get an older car. Just be patient and find one that has been treated right instead of buying a junker and thinking that you can fix it up. You can even look at old monte carlos or any other v8 rear wheel drive cars that are american made.

And hey i dont like ford cars but the 93 and older mustangs i do like. They are good cars. Im tinkering with the idea of leaving my thirdgen alone and sticking the chevy motor im building in a nice little notch back mustang. If i can find one for a good price.

But anyways for a good first car get an older car. Or do the research and find a car that you can build upon. If i had done that i probably would gone with an old rx7 as my first car and then stick an ls1 in it. i just like the idea of a 2200 pound car with 450 horse power. makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside

Something I always tell people when looking for a car is to see how much the insurance is going to be. When I was 16 my dad had a 98 Z28 and it was going to cost me $600.00 a month for full coverage. When I turned 18 I got my first camaro. A 91 RS, I loved that car and insurance was around 220 a month for full coverage. So pick your car wisely and don't settle for the first one you find unless its in emasculate condition.

Yeah, i made the mistake of buying a third gen with 180,000 miles on it. Ran great...for a year. It is now sitting in my driveway and when i can get it to start, won't go anywhere until you hit 5,000 rpm for some reason(i assume the rear end is almost completely shot now, it was already whining). I don't have the $ right now to fix or replace the car, my dad took his truck back, so now i'm in a pickle.

i think 3rd gens are better then 4th gens in upkeep..just cuz its easier to get to everything. 4th gens hide away too much of their @#$#@ engine.. i changed a lot of stuff on my 3rd and 4th.. and i gotta say, the 4th gen was a bitch. if youre a do it yourselfer, get a 3rd.

(if youre addicted to speeding get a 4th..)
