fuse box question

i own a 1998 ford contour 2.0 4cyl. Gl.....i have a short in a wire that goes from the blower motor to the fuse box. the short is right at the bottom of the fuse box at the connector going into the bottom of the fuse box. there are other connectors there also that look like they snap out. is this true? is it possible to unsnap the connector and fix the wire and snap it back into place? i really dont know of any other way. there looks like there are 5 - 6 other connectors that unsnap. this is on the bottom of the inside compartment fuse box. not he inside of the fuse box. thanks for your time any help is greatly apprecieated.:banghead:
