Are you using a floor jack, or the factory scissor jack?
If a floor jack, I position the jack under the frame near the front body mount, then properly support the frame with jack stands as well.

at my school we have a program called mitchell on demand
it comes in reall handy for jackin points for about any car
we used to have a 93 explorer and the jack points for a floor jack i believe was either the lower control arm or where it the control arm meets the rest of the frame and everything else then place a jack stand where the factory emergency jack is supposed to go...there is usually more metal there to help support the weight
hope tat helps
