Check out Tamiya's website:

http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/list/24car/kit24001.htm

On 1/24 car model listings, notice anything intersting?

A gap between 24299 and 24301, what happened to 24300? An Unreleased model?

My thinking is it could be the re-boxed version fo 360 Spider, why it's not onthe list/ not been announced is beyond me...

Shocking. Tamiya could just have been on the verge of finally releasing the dream model we've all bee waiting for!, yet they pulled it at the last minute in mysterious circumstances. :uhoh: Strange things are afoot, I tell you.

Don't try to figure out Tamiya numbering scheme. It serves no purpose at all except to suit the convenience of their stock listing system. You will discover no hidden mysteries by decyphering it. :disappoin 24300 is not an unreleased model, it's merely a blank number.

It could have been left empty for a considered rerelease of the Testarossa or Mythos. Or new markings for a rally kit. And if you want to believe it's a stillborn Bugatti Veyron or McLaren F1, feel free.

Tamiya's done that once or twice before. Something will end up in that slot. And it may or may not be interesting...

i believe it might be a completely new model after the sc430 race car so thats why tamiya is keeping it blank and open, as for the "milestone" models need to be special, maybe a standard road car as the last 30-40 (apart from the ferrari re-releases) have been race/rally cars with a couple of road cars.

edit: i believe the 24300 model will be at the shizuoka hobby show in may where all companies showcase new models

i think tamiya needs to concentrate on more road cars rather releasing a load of race/rally cars with 10 different variations of it, thats why my last purchases have been fujima and aoshima road cars (instead of tamiya race cars) and the tamiya road cars ie enzo, slr and carrera gt

me2 so they now have at least 30 kits guarantied...

I can make it easy for Tamiya i can decide on what should be nr 300.(mclaren f1 of coarse)

Why not they shouldnīt have licensing poblems anymore and I think that if they made the mac they will make a sales record. So come on Tamiya make it

So you mean that all "outdatet" cars should not be made as a kit????

A veyron would be sweet but compared to the "outdated junk" itīs nothing...:)

Outdated Junk box?

when it was in production it was a long way ahead of it's time, and is still much faster than many modern supercars, both in a straight line and around a track. it's hardly a "junk box".

bear in mind that in 1998 the McLaren F1 hit 240mph. almost 10 years later the Bugatti Veyron reached 253mph. now tell me this, you still think it's a junk box, when in ten years the record has only been exceeded by 13mph? don't forget they're both street-legal.

1- As far as charisma is concerned: the Veyron is superior
2- As far as heritage is concerned: the Veyron is superior
3- As far as power is concerned: the Veyron is superior
4- As far as design is concerned.... no need to mention how unique the Veyron is.
5- Speed... clear who is the winner.
6- And above all as far as engineering is concerned, the Veyron is a masterpeice.

Any automotive engineer can explain to you how difficult it is to bring 1000 HP on the road without increasing the weight. That was challenge to the laws of physics and reqiures a great deal of innovation in aerodynamics and traction control. Remember road cars are subject to a lot of contrains that race cars do not suffer from. Now to bring a road car to run as fast (or even faster) than formula one cars and to live longer is a real challenge. Secondly, the top speed of the Veyron was specified in advance by the CEO of VW. He ordered his staff to build thefirst car with more than 1000 HP and to reach the 400 km/h. They made the engine (did not borrow one from BMW) to exactly produce 1001 HP and the car to run at 400 km/h. The engine is electronically controlled to exactly deliver this power. Needless to say they can get more out of it whenever they wish. And this what makes the Veyron muchmore superior to the Mclaren, F50 (the GT was only 5 km/h slower than a Mclaren) and others. It was not just an excerise for the enginner where they saw what their best efforts may result in, rather they specified in advance the performance the car should have and did it.

that's all subjective. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. more power doesn't neccessairly mean more speed. (look at motorbikes) the eningeering isn't neccessairly better either, that's very dependant on what you want. the F1 isn't meant for luxury, the Veyron (in parts) is.

you're kidding, right? "without increasing the weight" the veyron weighs 4162lb. that's a lot of weight, 1 and a half times the weight of my car, ('01 Golf V5) which is a 5-seat family car. the F1 weighs 2153lb.

oh, and for future refrence, don't be rude or condescending to ANYONE, least of all the moderating staff. i know how it all works, i know about auto engineering. talk down to people again and i'll give you a week off. if you can't learn to accept other's opinions and play fair, i'll remove you permanently.

i hope that's clear.

Well, I do not need to talk people because I am an automotive engineer and aerdynamics sepcialist myself. Engineering is certainly better. Everything about that car is unique, from the engine design to the whole concept.

If you go to basic mechanics you will learn about adhesion limits that limits the traction ou can put on the wheels. In the veyron these limits were exceeded by clever traction control and refined aerodynamics. It weights 500 kg more than a Golf and produces roghly 7 to 8 times its power.

And what do you mean by rude here? Is it forbidden to dislike the holy Mclaren on this forum? Is it beyond the limits to describe it as a junk box?
I did not insult anyone for whatever opinion he has. The rude is the one who attempts to 'scare' who do not agree with his opinion and worship Mclaren. And let me tell you something, I am not impressed with your threats and I do not care what you can or will do (if you are one of the moderator).

Would you care to expand on that thought? I'm not quite sure what you had in mind when you wrote that.

Or am I being rude or condescending?

I think we are getting a little of track here with all the mac vs veyron stuff.

Let me put it this way if Tamiya decides to do a special model for the Nr 300
I will be glad wich ever car it may be(if itīs a new kit), because Tamiya needs to get more cars on the market(my opinion)

And I will be most happy if it is a Mclaren but a Veyron would be great even a Koenigsegggggg would be great etc etc.

I think there are lots of time and space to discuss mac vs veyron somewhere else we could even start a new tread if we want to but comparing an car from the beginning/ middle of the 90s with the new Veyron I think is pointless because they are cars not of the same time. I think that not so many did discuss the Mclaren against for example the Ferrari 288gto. Both great cars but from different times.

I really hope that Tamiya decides to put out a whole new model at shizouka in may with the nr 300.
