Removing Badges and Trim

Hey all,

I'm thinking of removing the badges on the tailgate, and plastic side trim on the blazer this weekend. I was planning on using my heat gun to remove them, is this a good idea? The only thing that worries me is the paint under the badges and trim will look different then the rest of the car, would that be the case? Does anyone have other tips? Thanks.

for the badges, the paint underneath is the same color as you stock color was, just peel them off and then spray with adhesive remover (i used some made by 3m i got from walmart cheap) and scrub the black coushin stuff off, u made need to spray it several times, afterwords you may have a light brown outline around where the badges were i suspect this is burn in from the sun or somthing, but not too noticable.

as for the trim, im not sure about that as i left mine on..but i would assume it is the same color underneath that aswell.

The color differance really depends on what color it is and how much fading it has. The car is first painted and then the badges are put on, unless it has been repainted, so the paint is all the same to start with. After time the badges and such keep the elements and sun from altering the paint behind them, but the rest of the paint takes the abuse and will fade, even if just a little. If it has been garage kept or under covers, it will not be so bad, but if it is a nice bright red or so and sits outside all the time, it may show much more then you want it to.

I was going to ask the exact same question. I have a 2003 Chevy S-10 "White" that I bought about a month ago. Would the sun make that much difference on a White paint job in only 4 years? Or do you think it would be alright to take the badges off. If I did take a badge off, would it be easy to put it back on if I did not like the outcome of it? Just curious as to what your opinions are. Thanks

my 95 is its stock white, and like i said, its the exact same under the badges with just that very light brown outline around where the badges were, mine had no fading at all (and im in southern nevad so there is lots of sun here)
