I recently acquired a 1992 lincoln town car and i was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to replace the mechanical dash gauges etc. with a digital one from the same year, my mechanical one has issues and the digital one seems easier to find.

That's a very interesting proposition... Anything can be done, it's just a matter of how much your willing to do to git r done.

For sure the connectors are different, the size may not be the same either. I'll bet the electronic drivers like modules and sensors would be different too.

This is definitely a question for the boys at LoL (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=261)

BTW, HI & WELCOME :)

What's the problem your having with your cluster now?

Thanks for the reply. The odometer and trip odometer neither one work. My airbag light is flashing then it stops for a while then it flashes again of course there may be a problem there i dont know.

I thought for the digital dash the wiring might be the same but of course the sensors would be different i thought the size may be the same didnt figure they would make 2 different dash sizes during the same year. I really just didnt know for sure and if i have to go into this one anyway maybe i could replace it with digital. Plus the linear speedometer is taking some getting used to.

Sorry to be so long winded and thanks for the welcome!!!

Well, you can get the 1992 FSM from www.FordCds.com and do a bit of research on the different components.

Here's the two screen shots:

I've got a wrecked 93 TC that still has all the dash cluster wiring, and probally any other wiring you might need to get things hooked up. Let me know if you decide to make a conversion. It would take some work, but I think it could be done. E-mail me at [email protected]

Thanks Mike
