Patience my friends! :D The car has sucessfully crawled out of the grave with minimum damage. I have "ripped" off the brake "mounts" and will produce better quality ones with better styrene sheets, now that my skills have surpassed what I had before, I can make a better car, I'll get some pics right now of it's current state.............

Grrr..... I hated doing the belts!! I used ribboin I purchased at a local Longs Drugs, but it was a pain to cut the thing in half!! It needs a lot of clean up to be nice! And the Takata logos were from pictures that turbos86 PM'd me a while back. The only thing I don't have is a nice PE set for the buckles.

05-03-2003, 04:06 AM
you could get buckles at The Hobby Company at Pearidge Shoping Center hono. they got 4 point harnesses that i bought for like 6 bucks man. hella expensive yo:( . well i took me 3 hours to finish the damn thing and the minimum time to make is 2 hours! (it said so itself on the package). just becare for dont losse the pieces cuz thier very tiny. also, where do you buy your kits at man? i was just wondering. cuz i know this one place in kaimuki and that place sell model dirt cheap!:D its called MechaHawaii. i wonder if you heard of it? lates

Beck, how I "lowered" the front is explained on previouse pages, and the back as well.

180sx, nice to see someone else from Hawaii, when you say "dirt cheap" how much? And I couldn't find MechaHawaii in the phone book neiter. Give me more info on them, although I live on the North Shore. And thanks for the tip, I'll get the buckels on my next trip there.
Lastly, all of us AF people from Hawaii should have a model car meet some time, how does that sound?

Bookshelf, patience my friend, remember I'm a turtle........

Stump, yah, but I like AE86s and Fujimi is the only ones that manufacture them!

Bah humbug, actually I'm making one like Moto-Ps car, with some modifications to it.

Look foward for progress!:)

well hono... he doesnt have the shops phone number listed in the phone book because its a small shop and he's an entrepanure. he only opens on saturday from 2pm-7pm and you could go on he's website to find out more :www.mechahawaii.com. you could also post on his forum. most of the price on themodels you see on the site is not the real price, its lower plus a 10% discount everytime you buy something from him. very cool guy once you get to know him...sometime he give out free stuff. his number is 398-6324(cellphone) ask for sean and tell him martin introduced ya. dont worry, you could call him at that number, thats like his business phone.

for those of ya from the mainland, check out his site and you could order stuff from him too.

well hopefully that says it all hono and maybe ill see you this saturday(5/10/03) at his place. he's coming in with new shipments of models. dont miss out man. lates:D

Wow, thanks for the tip! They list their Tamiya Ferrari Enzo as $26, and not $45 like the Hobby Co. They have some good pricing compared to other shops! The only thing for me is the location. That's at least a 45 min drive out from Waialua, no? Or that would be quite a bus ride...... since I don't have a license yet.

I'll give him a call tomorrow. Don't think I'll see you next week, I'm marching at a Parade in Waikiki to promote our Robotics team. But I'll see what I can do when it finishes!

180, blah, I didn't call him........ but now MechaHawaii opens 3 times a week yah?

hon808, Hey, the bride decals came with this particular AE86, I already made Takata racing harness, and I plan to re-paint the interior door panels and floor for a more quaility job this coming weekend, since I don't work on the weekends.

rs, Heh, I didn't have that much time to build cars this past year, since I was part of robotics, golf team, etc. and now I got a summer job (intern thingy) for the summer time which is consuming most of my time...... But I find little time to certain things on the car, like puttying, sanding etc. And as my name stated "honoturtle" which represents my pace in building cars. Ask any of the members that been around for at least a year, and they'll tell you how many projects I've started and still haven't completed, just to name a few: 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R, 1967 Ford Mustang GT-500 Conversion with 427 Cobra Jet motor.

Anyways guys, expect to see a "finished" thread by the end of this month or the beginning of July, since this car is in "first priority" to be completed. I hope next week I'll have enough time to "complete" the puttying jobs.

Here are some new shots of what the call looks like as I type this:

Spoiler still needs time, putty, and work
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/743614DSC01798.jpg
Trying to make it as accurate as I can.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/568856DSC01806.jpg
Made newer, better, nicer brake hubs(front shown).
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/741059DSC01800.jpg
BTW, this car has a rear disk brake conversion.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/983479DSC01801.jpg
Bride seats with TAKATA racing harness, unfortunalty there are no buckles. :(
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/366024DSC01805.jpg
Some new, crystal clear glass for all the windows in the car.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/902036DSC01804.jpg

Unfortunaly, I accidentally cracked the front lights, so if any one has a trashed AE86 Levin or spare front light, I need it. The good thing is that if someone made one without the middle part of the light, that's where it cracked. BTW, I already have this in the classifieds.

I'm trying to work faster...... I know this project has lost most of the intrest from the beginning already. Well, for the light, that isn't the look I was going for.

Anyways, this is the cracked front headlight.

And of course, the spoiler.

The new spoiler is made out of my styrene stock, and Tamiya 2-part epoxy, the old one is out of styrene (very little) and red putty, that's why it wasen't that good, the new one is 10X stronger.
The ribbon is from my local Longs Drugs store in the "crafts" section, they come in many different colors. And for the decal, I printed them out with a picture I recieved from turbos86.

Haven't been posting much latley.

Anyways, I've learned recently that this guy has changed the hood of his car:

http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/354433levin2.jpg

I haven't decided weather to make the changes or not. Also I may put in a 20V 4AG-E motor, once I get the parts that I've traded with another member.

FYI, right now I've been working mostly on the 69 Camaro because I got a contest to make which I would like that car to be an entry into the detailed class.

Thanks for the support, I'm glad there are still people keeping an eye on this thread, as I WILL complete this car, don't worry just wait until you see the "Finished" thread.

Hey guys! The 20V is my little secret ;):). Nah, it's actually going to be an extensivley modified Tamiya 96 Supra engine. I waiting for the parts to come in from another member.

I don't think I'll make the hood, to me I think it's not as cool as the Cusco hood that he had with the hood pins. As for the 20V, I think I may save it for one of my Trueno kits.

Stay Tuned, as this car should begin to progress (again) hopefully a minute or two after I complete my Camaro.:)
