Obd2 Code Po456

I've got a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan with 59,000 miles. I've got a current check engine light on. I know the code is for a small leak in the evaporative emission control system. Where do I start with this or is this under the California emission extended warranty and it should go to the dealer?

For informational purposes I found and repaired the problem with a $4.50 hose. PO456 is an OBDII code that references a very small leak in the EVAP system within the emissions system. The emissions system pressurizes the evap system at cold start-ups to check for any fuel vapors escaping to the atmosphere. If there is a leak, the PCM burns a code and hence, a check engine light appears. I found a slightly cracked hose between the forward vapor canister and the rear vapor canister,(that was enough). Hopefully, the code won't reappear,(I've got faith!) I was told by a Dodge/Chrysler tech he replaces two of those hoses per week. If the code does come back, I know to trace the diagram label under the hood for any other cracked lines.

Hello I got an 05 Caravan and it has the same code that yours did. Can you tell me where the vapor canisters are located and the hoses so I can check mine.. I am in need of a service manual for it a Dodge one would be nice if anyone knows where I could buy one reasonably.. Thanks Luke

Your foreward and rear vapor canisters should be directly under your driver's floorboard and seat, under the van. The small hose,(approx. 8" x 5/8"), linking the two black plastic canisters had very small cracks visible with a flashlight. That code indicates a very small leak in the evap. system which caused my problem is the result of fuel vapor drying out the rubber materials used for the moulded lines. Inspect all the evap sytem lines while under the van keeping a close eye out for cracks in any of those hoses. All my lines were good except for that small line linking the two canisters,($4.50 at the Dodge dealer). Use the diagram under the hood as a guide for the evap system lines and you should find the leak.
