Sounds Ok to me...there is a sensor in the radiator...but you have got to be real hot for that to kick in.

The 4.0 runs hot; about 210 on the gauge is the norm. Your electric fan should come on when the temp exceeds 210. Run your vehicle to get it fully hot, park and let it idle for an extended time... the fan should kick on as the temp goes above the 210 mark.
