Cool, congrats. What colors are you looking at? I like the pictures of the blue ones, but I saw a black one in person the other day, and its beautiful :)

Not to be too nibby, but what sort of deal did the dealer give you? Don't need specifics, but are you paying over MSRP

I am looking at either the La Mans Sunset, Brickyard, Blue or Silverstone. I did not have to pay anything over MSRP. The dealer is Bankston Nissan in Irving TX. They are really nice over there not like the vultures I've seen at other dealerships. Our salesman told us that they are not allowed to charge over MSRP. There are so many choices...so hard to decide. I think if I see them in person though I will know for sure what color I want. I knew right away I had to have the Track model. ;)

It seems most are able to find Z's for MSRP. What kinda deposits are dealers asking. The lowest I've seen is $1k, highest is $2.5k.
On another note a dealer called me yesterday and said Nissan is allocating 10 Z's to them for delivery in Dec. From the way he was talking it sounds like Nissan is catching up pretty quick. I think I remember this guy saying by March he expects them to have them on the lot.

My dealer was asking for a 10% depost. At least he was honest though. Orders being placed in October will have a Jan-March delivery date. This was confirmed by NNA. So those that placed orders in October, don't let you dealer fool you and say you'll get it this year, you won't. If you have doubts, call NNA, and they will tell you the truth.

I've been hearing a lot of dealers saying they have been confirmed that Z's are being allocated to them by the end of the year above what is being preordered. Are you saying that this isn't true?

Those allotments are not orders being placed now. They are cars that Nissan sends to the dealers to sell on top of those that they ordered. The dealer doesnt configure those cars, its up to Nissan to send what they want. If you configure a car and get it ordered now it is usually a 90-120 day turn around according to NNA(Nissan North America). And also when you order it takes about one to two weeks for your order number to be confirmed. Then they set a build date and then an approximate delivery date. So your looking at Jan. at the earliest. Plus with the port lockout who knows how that affected delivery. It could have pushed things back a couple of weeks. If you guys want some real information about whats going on with the Z go to my350z.com. It has the most up to date and moslty accurate info about the Z. Many Z owners on that board speek to NNA on a regular basis. This is where all this info is coming from.
My dealer also has allotments for Dec. delivery. But none of them were configured to my liking. If your dealer has cars coming in Dec. he should know whats hes getting right now. (My dealer had a list of his Dec. allotments a month ago) Call your dealer and see if he has a car coming that is what you want or would buy. Then you could have a Z in Dec.

I went into Preston Nissan in Preston MD today and placed my order. They are selling me the car at MSRP and they did not require me to put down a deposit. I even brought my checkbook and asked if they wanted me to. The import manager J.T. looked at me and said do you want it.I replied yes and he said that was my deposit. I am not sure if they treat everyone like this, because they are one of my customers it may have helped.

Four day ago I went to put my $1k down for dibs on a model in the allotment delivery and someone had just failed getting financing on a completely loaded touring model. I immediately told the saleslady that the car was sold and to bring me the paperwork.
The sad part is that another sales agent had just called his 'buyer in waiting' to come up and purchase the car before some else bought it. I managed to consumate the deal before the other buyer showed up.
MSRP + Ext Warranty (100K miles) plus every option available = $41K
