Swap possible?

Me and my friend were talking the other day about certain engine swaps the a certain swap came up. Would it be possible to put a small block chevy engine in either an 88 Honda CR-X or 93 Honda Del Sol? Would it fit in the engine bay? This only came up because the small block has around 275 horses in it as to the B16 being in the 100's range. We not selling out we just looking at performance for less. :grey:

Leave now. JK :p well it has been done before...sadly enough. someone stuffed a 350 into a crx. i would not recommend it at all. The B16 makes 160 hp (100hp per liter)....which is not too shabby and currently has close to the same aftermarket support as the 350 does. It would be kinda handy to go to ANY junkyard and pick up my motor......and then stop at Walgreens and pick up a 400 crank (to make it a 383) and some deodorant. just don't do it. Buy a DOHC ZC or a SOHC VTEC motor (D16Z6/Y8) for around $500....reuse your crx/del sol trans and save money there. as you make more money save it and internally build it for boost......and then of course boost it. that will give you a very potent street setup....i believe CWBETB has a turbo'd DOHC ZC motor in his 4G hatch...talk to him. later

ANY motor swap is possible in any car given the fact that you have to weld all new motor mounts, use the donor motors ecu and all electronics, and if the motor fits somewhat in the engine bay. My brother is trying to talk me into putting a 305 in my civic...uh.....no thanks. hehe

some guy was just arguing with jer about stuffing some huge engine in a honda. the guy got pretty pissed and walked away after jer tells him...who has the most consistantly fast honda? seth papadokis (sp?). and what does he have? b series. no brainer

i'm all about the d series. but if i had unlimited fundage and had to go for what i know...i would have to break down and *gulp* get me one of those b things

You can perform ANY swap you can think of, but it boils down to the amount of money you have to spend, and the amount of work it will require.

i'm feelin' ya on that one. i'm ALL about the D series. i just think jer's thought process is funny. according to the numbers...he's right. i believe he was actually talking to a 5th gen owner.

i hear that too. but you also have to consider weight. some engine crank out more HP but not worth the swap because it's so damn heavy. it's like running to stand still...
