91 Jeep ABS pump wont turn off!!!

I have a 91 Jeep Cherokee Laredo and already had the ABS system replaced because of the recall about a year ago. The other day my wife thought the front brakes were going so I checked the pads and they were fine. I depressurized the system and pulled the back drum and found the self adjuster was rusted solid. It almost fell out on it's own so I cleaned it up and readjusted the shoes and put the tire back on. I check the other rear and that adjuster was shot too. I had changed all the other hardware about 9 months ago so I figured all was good. Started the car and the ABS pump truned on as it should but then wouldn't turn off and the hellish BRAKE dash light came on. I check the fluid level in the master and it was now to the top. I syphoned some out but the pump won't turn off now at all! What can I do without having to take it back to the dealer? Anyone know what happened. I never opened a line or anything. Thanks

I would Highly recommend ripping the ABS out and convert to the normal power booster set up. Easy to do and everything is a direct bolt up. Except the lines and porportioning valve, but $15 at the junk yard can take care of that.

You may need to adjust the rear brakes some more. The brake light will come on if you have to push down the brake pedal past a certain point in order to stop. Since you just tinkered with the brakes, it's a safe bet that you need to adjust the rear brakes again. On the self adjuster, make sure you grease it up with high temp grease. In order to adjust the rear brakes, turn the adjuster wheel so the drums barely go on without scrubbing the shoes. After you do that, put the tires back on. To make the self adjusters work, you have to drive back and forth, coming to a complete stop when backing. Do this for about 10-15 times and you should be good. Double check your fluids afterwards. If you messed with the lines, undid the wheel cylinder, or let the fluid fall below the botton of the brake fluid reservoir, you need to bleed your system.
