2009 Camaro Concept

Well, I got my first look at the new concept Camaro Chevy has plans on releasing in 2009. I was so excited that they decided to release the Camaro again I went screaming and yelling for joy at the wife, lol. Glad they are using the '67-'69 body designs as a guideline to work from.

Get a look at the new Camaro at Chevrolet.com. I will try to put a link or a pic in here so you don't have to go searching. Almost to futuristic for the dash and console areas. 175 MPH on the speedo, makes your heart jump and start pounding just thinking about it.

Talking to my friend and he said Hod Rod mag did an extensive article on the new Diamondback Viper which will have a 600hp N/A 8.4L. But anyways, they touched on the new supercharged vette and new camaro. And they heard a leak that they will have 2 V6 options and 3 V8 options with the new Z28 boasting the new LS9, assuming a de-tuned 550hp.

Me too, but I think its stupid for GM to put their top-of-the-line vette engine into the camaro. GM has never done that. That's like if they put the LS6 in the camaro SS. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but it might to some of you.

i agree. i doubt gm will put the LS9 in the camaro. doesnt seem like a smart idea. i thought the top engine choice would be the LS7 in an SS model and the z28 would get the 5.3 or LS2. no one is really gonna know for sure untill closer to the launch.

They better not put anything smaller than the LS2 in the z28 or I will boycott GM.

Whatever friend you have is misinformed, because nobody will tell what engines it'll have. Know why?

They don't know what engines there will be to choose from. As Scott Settlemire told me and a bunch of my friends at last year's NY auto show and this year's Philly auto show press day (camaro enthusiast event) "LS1/LS6... LS2/LS7... We've still got a bunch of numbers left in there."

Why dedicate to put in an LS2 when it'll be near outdated by then?

thats what im saying, u dont think GM will have anything new in the future for the vette....so no matter what u pick from now, im sure it will be old by then. i say drop a 427 in that sum biatch!

That's not what me or my friend said, we pulled that stuff out of Hod Rod mag. But they (Hot Rod mag) did say that GM is known for 'leaking' too much info, then denying a lot of it before its due time. But that's all from the article.

And why would the LS2 be outdated? It debuted in 05, so it will be 4 years old by 2009. The LS1 debuted in the 97 vettes, and it was 2005 before the next smallblock came out (LS2). So that gave it 8 years. And of course the LS6 is in there somewhere. But I don't think the LS2 will be outdated by the release of the camaro.
But I have heard that they have/are developed/developing the LS3 for the new 08 GTO. Suppose to be a 6.2L that puts out somewhere north of 400 to 430hp.

I agree with the 427cid or anything that will cause the tires to turn to dust. I am sure some aftermarket company will build a hopped up version like Saleen did with Mustang. It is all in how much money a person is willing to dish out.

I also think they may rumor the engines that are going to be in the Camaro but no one really knows what is on the developing board right now. Seems like new engines are coming out every other year and by the time it debuts I am sure there will be a new engine that will have more horses and use less go-go juice. As with everone else, we will just have to wait and see, never know, they might even cancel the release of the 2009 Camaro completely.

the reason im saying that engine may be outdated is for a few reasons that alot of u guys im sure dont really think about....im a world news guy, and i pay big ass attention to whats going on with our economy and others...gas is a thing of the past! in the very near future we will be seeing all kinds of new shit from every car cmpany on the map....all the save energy bills that are being passed, im sure the car industry will follow as well...who knows what the hell we will see in yes..even one year from now. all the hoped up hp cars are really on their last leg, and guys like u and i..we will be talking about the good old days when we were tearing up the streets...

See thats where I disagree, I think if we play our cards right we will have some fun toys to play with in the future. Granted they probably won't run on gasoline...

Tell me this doesn't sound bad ass- Drag racing, through the sky, in a modified hover car.

Unless gas is completely stopped being made and made available. The older cars will still be driving around. Yes, hydrogen or some other fuel alternative will be offered soon but am sure there will be muscle cars still around to take advantage of that. I seen that Lexus or Mercedes already has a SUV type vehicle planned for next year that will produce about 320 HP hybrid(claiming to be the first high HP vehicle to be available).

Not hardly. I agree that alternative fuels and such are on the very near horizon, but no one is ever going to give up their fast cars. There will always be speed demons on the road. Untill the eco-junkies can come up with a fuel that burns like ethanol, but can perform like gas...gas will always be in the picture. Trust me friend, no one is going to give up their mustangs, chargers, challengers, camaros, GTOs, Lambos, Porches, Firaris, etc. Even if EVERY high performance car on the market suddenly stopped production, they would have to by law continue to produce and sell gasoline for all the cars out there that run on it. No way the government or any other agency could force people to have to go out and buy brand new cars, or lose the ability to travel to and from work, school, etc. Most people in the country wouldn't even have close to the resources to pull off a purchase like that right away. Unless the government is going to buy everyone in the country a brand new car that runs on these new fuels, gas is going to be around for a very long time. I just bought a 2007 Cobalt, it runs on nothing but gas, and I plan to drive it for a LOOONG time. I for one, will be one of the first in line to get one of the new Camaros as well.

yep. its gonna be a slowww transition. imagine what would happen.. total dark ages if everyone had to junk their cars to get new ones!

on the other hand, alternative fuels does sound good..

few mods to the engine, less power..bt still runs. that could happen, actually.

sure hope not tho. im sure if we do run it right, we'll still be able to run gasoline..just gonna be xp as hell.. it'll be the weekend car that has power.. one to take around if youre a rich bastard or something lol :p

id deff keep my gas powered car if i got a vette ;]

I wish GM would give us some specs already!. Production is less than a year out and we don't know anything other than what it looks like and that there will be 2 v6's and a v8 available at launch.

that said if it can take a corner fairly decently I'll probebly take one
