240 stalling out problem

91 volvo 240 stalls out usually when idling but recently just stopped running when I was going 65 mph on the freeway!!! Recently replaced battery and problem stopped for a while but is worse than ever now. Have been told it may be a number of possibilities like faulty fuel relay, radio suppression relay, bad alternator, wiring under steering column may have loose connections. Don't know what to think now and cannot afford pricey mechanic to figure it out. Please offer help.:disappoin

I sent a long priv. msg. about 240 fuel pump relays, and checking at www.swedishbricks.com - and looking in the 'contents' then 'tech notes' links there, where the fuel pump relays are discussed. We had just replaced the fuel pump relay on the families '88 240; and cleaned all of the fuse contacts too.
