Evap removal questions

When removing your evap system, can you unplug the egr, fuel and evap solenoids from the wiring harness, or do you have to leave them plugged in to keep from getting CELs? Thanks!

If you unhook them they are gonna throw a CEL no matter what... UNLESS, you have DSMLink to disable them... Possibly could do it with a datalogger/code reader too...

So you're saying I can't unhook the vacuum lines from the evap system without throwing a CEL?

Well you certainly don't wanna have a vacuum leak from unhooking just those lines... I thought you were talking about the wiring harness plugs to the EGR stuff...

If your gonna take em out then I would just take them all out compeltely and just let the wiring harness plugs hang or whatever you wanna do with them. Get rid of any vacuum lines that you don't need so you have less of a chance for any vacuum leaks. If you get a CEL then you can try to clear the code like I suggested or you could always resort to pulling out the bulb for it like some people do. lol

I don't believe the DSMs had any feedback on the EVAP system, so you should be able to remove that. The EGR is monitored on OBD2 cars though, via the MDP sensor. There are ways to trick that sensor into thinking the egr works. The ECU should not care that the solenoids are plugged in or disconnected however, as far as I know.

Freakin' Sweet! I haven't seen Kevin post in a while, I feel honored! I went ahead and unhooked the solenoids, but won't be able to fire it up for a while, so I'll just make sure to keep them handy. Thanks for all the help guys.
