My friend has this kit at home.. the Ferrari F40 1/24 from the Protar company.. He was asking me to build it for him.. but since it looked like an rare kit to me.. I wanted to know if it's a rare one.. and how much he could get for this one :)

This is the kit box

I don't know if it's rare but I can tell you that one thing Protar is known for is poor quality.

It depends on how you define rare. The kit isn't readily available at hobby stores, so for the store-goers, it's rare. But the kit pops up on auction every now and then, and the price isn't high either.

As far as the normal F40 is concerned, there're four tools done by Tamiya, Fujimi, Italeri and Protar, and the Protar one is a pain to build. That's why it ends up on auction often. While you can buy a Tamiya one for $20 or so, it's almost pointless to choose the Protar one, unless you're a Ferrari kit collector. I got mine for about $15, and I think I overpaid.

Don't misunderstand me; you can still build the Protar kit, BUT it's not going to be as stress-free as the Tamiya one.

You should have said who was selling it - you would have got more ;)
