1997 3.8 headlamp problem

ok, after a difficult winter whereby the battery was removed and recharged
a few times, the following happened during the last episode of recharging:

headlamps, running lights, windshield washer, security and keyless entry no longer function. all corresponding fuses are good. could this be some kind of relay problem? panel indicator lights all appear normal when starting and all wiring (well, headlamps anyway) appears secure. where exactly is the headlamp relay? is it one of the boxes in the under-hood fusebox (over the fuses?)? are there different relays for each of these systems? could mucking around with the battery have toasted something?

any assistance would be appreciated.

I'd double check the dual positive cables at the battery to be sure they're clean and they have good contact. Check the ground wire also both ends.

that's good idea. in the meantime, though, everything is automagically working, even the security system. for the present, i think i will just leave it alone. perhaps my buick is slowly becoming insane!

thanks!

This is really sounds like a ground wire issue. You need to check to see if your ground wire is still intacked. It may be corroded or just barely hanging on.

I had very similar issues. The car will still run but everything that was an accessory would stop working.
