2007 Sebring trunk latch

I rented a Sebring and was parked in a large parking garage, very full, in a major city. When I returned to the car the driver's window had been broken and the trunk was opened and all of my belongings were stolen. I recalled that the trunk latch was very high on the dash, to the left of the steering wheel and very visible. This theft must have taken only a few seconds, as the perps obviously knew of this design flaw and found it very easy to break in.
