Okay, so truthfully. I know very little of transmissions and cars. I was told the car I bought needs new synchrose for first and second gear.
Does that basically mean.. New Transmission?

No, it basically means you need to rebuild the synchros. This is a very common problem in our cars.
These two things should kind of show you what you are going to be looking at:

Ask Youngvr4, I know he actually replaced a couple of his, so he can give you an exact cost. The synchros themselves are like $80 a piece...its the labor that costs $$$. And some places wont work on it, so you may have to call around.

no, you don't have to pull the engine. the transmission can be removed from the bottom of the car. check out this site for all the info you need: http://stealth316.com/2-trany.htm. if you have a FWD tranny, there are notes/comments on the FWD tranny in that write-up as well.

For a proffesional Mechanic. How long am I looking at it taking?

labor for removing and replacing tranny usually runs about $400. but you'll have to add in labor for replacing the synchros (taking apart tranny). which shouldn't be more than 3 hours.

yes, its always good to save money, however, if you can't figure out how to get under the car, i don't think you should be doing something like this.

i agree. if you dont really know what your doing, maybe you should think about having a shop do it. unless you are familiar with tranny's

contact these guys, find out what gears are stripping and ask for blocking rings for those gears.

ummm...yes? that's what we told you. for some reason, did you think the synchros could be replaced WITHOUT dropping the transmission? in order to take the transmission apart, you must first remove it from the car (drop it).
