I wish all cop cars were that colour........ easier to spot while speeding.

MagicRat,

Where are you from, dude? I see lots of your posts, but this is the first time I noticed a non-American way of spelling (colour). No biggie, just being nosy...

Also, to add to your comment about seeing them better, CHP (California Highway Patrol) have been "balck and white" forever. While other states have gone to a "stealthier" posture, CHP sticks out like a sore thumb. According to their spokesperson, many years ago, it was stated, the idea is NOT to "catch" speeders. The idea is to PREVENT speeders. I realize this doesn't "fit" within modern approach to law enFORCEment, but it DOES save lives (I thought that was WHY we had cops out there...). Just try to explain that to a "magistrate" or other Virginia law "maker". If it doesn't bring in cash, they don't want to hear it, safety and reality notwithstanding!

Hi,

I'm Canadian, from Toronto, Ontario. (Although I was originally from the UK.)

Toronto police shared the CHP philosophy for many years and had bright YELLOW police cars up until about 15 years ago.
They all looked like New York City taxi cabs...........
:shakehead
(And many of the cabs were black and white.................):)

The OPP (they're our version of state troopers) for many years used white cars with distinctive blue and gold stripes, but they are being replaced by........... CHP style black and white, (for nostalgic reasons, apparently)
Personally, I suspect a black and white may be cheaper to paint than the stripe decals.

MrPbody:

Jim, take a close look at the license plate on the police car. I think it says "New South Wales". Sounds like Australia or New Zealand to me.

But there's too much reflection on the winshield to see if the steering wheel is on the right-hand side.
