Vin # locations

I have two 66 GTO's and I am trying to locate the vin numbers on the frame. Does anyone know were it is located? I was told by the rear axle but can't locate it.

On my '66, there's a flat drain "plug" in the trunk floor, on the left, just over the frame rail, oval-shaped. Remove the plug and there's the number. GTOs of that era ALL began the VIN with "242".
