MSD spark problem

I am having some trouble with my msd setup, Mostly its 2 in the morning and my brain isn't fully set on mechanic. IVe got a 6al ignition with an msd hei distributor. All the wires are in the right spots, as shown in the msd diagram http://www.msdignition.com/pdf/6%20series/6series.pdf . It says to jump the violet and green wires and check if i have spark, and i do. But when i crank the engine over, the spark is gone. my first guess is that the distributor isnt jumping those wires itself or something....Any Ideas?
