Need help with sub setup

ok, so i've been wanting to get some subs lately and well the time is now... but i dont exactly know what would be a good setup. I've got my mind set on 2 12" kicker L5s but i dont know what a good amp would be. a buddy of mind told me to get an alpine mrd-m1005 1000w. will this amp work for the subs im getting? please help.

Personally, I have been _highly_ satisfied with pioneer's premier line. Cheaper than alpines, kenwoods, etc, but offers just about the same performance.

Go on ebay and look for, autotek, hifonics or profile. I got a 75x4 amp a few weeks ago for about 175 shipped and the 1k watt amp i looking at is 225 shipped. These are autotek, you get there entry level SS series which are a little cheaper.

i have 2 kicker L5's with a 2000 watt profile amp....damn they pound with that amp....i got it for 280$.....oh and they are bridged

go with some entry level re's they actually sound good and they are cheap and doesn't take many watts to make them sound good

the first question to ask is what do you want out of them, do you want them to be accurate, clean and musical? or do you want to be heard three miles away. those in most cases are completly different setups. For sound quality I would go with infinity, boston, or mb quart for subs with jbl, infinity, boston, or mtx amp. make sure the amp is a monoblock sub amp, they are much more efficient than a/b amps. also make sure the power rating is appropriate for the subs. If you want loud, the sky is the limit, just watch the power ratings on the amps for example sony advertises an amp that is 1000 watts, well it may do that, but in a lab under a controlled environment. and that thousand watts is the most it will ever produce. they measure it at one frequency,with the input voltage higher than your car can produce. you want to get one rated across the frequency range. you should see something like 500watts rms 20hz-20khz that means it will give you 500 watts no matter what frequency you put on it.
