i'm going to vent here.... not to flame SLMDTEGLS98 but to vent on all newbies with poorly conceived questions. :banghead:
when you ask such a question you may as well ask who to date, a blonde, a brunette or a redhead. :screwy:
we (as regulars to the forum) have no idea who you are, your riding style, riding history or mental illness.
how can we possibly advise on what bike YOU should ride?
we all read bike magazines and all mags have differing opinion on what is best depending on track use or road use. we can read them as well as you can.
when asking about an '07 model, go AND F"N RIDE IT YERSELF!!!!! if you can't ride it then you have no business on an '07 sports bike. if you have to ask about them, then you don't have enough experience of riding sportsbikes to warrant riding one.
in magazines (depending on which one) rates the new ZX as the ants pants, the CBR as the best, the Gixer as the weapon of choice and the Yamaha R6 the number one for '07
finally if your still confused, take your skirt off, put on some leathers and pick the trendiest girly color and try not to waste some money on insurance.

Damn dude. Take it easy.
He's right though. You're just gonna have to ride them and pick one based on comfort and looks. The new 600's these days are pretty equally matched, and they're also balls to the wall in terms of power so keep that in mind when choosing.

Aussie, have an extra cup of coffee before posting ya big meanie. But as he stated, he's not trying to flame, but if you read at the top of all the posts, there is a list of do's and don'ts here, and asking a general question like "what bike should I get" is a no-no. It's frustrating for us as everyone rides differently. Since you really can't go wrong with any of those bikes, go get on one and see what fits your physique and riding style.

i does sound harsh but it needs to be said.
don't take this personally SLMDTEGLS98. this is not a personal flame.
feel free to ask more specific questions and you'll get more detailed and knowledgable feedback.
we just get every schoolboy who can read the speed spec sheets of the latest hyper bikes and think they can ride a super sport just because they've ridden thier Huffy around the local Wallmart.
no-one here has ridden anything close to the 07 batch of supersports except BP2K2, Dealsgap and i think Masonovsky had a CBR600RR.
all we can do is regurgitate info from magazines with our own bias.
or is it a case of "hey, how cool can i be. i'm 16 looking at bikes, talkin to guys about bikes. "
i'm sure Tange would close this thread with a nice little "please read the stickies"
i may be getting old and cranky but i feel this has to be said
ooh and i missed the bit about it has to be black. nothing better than a newbie on a supersport that blends into the background. its hard enough to be seen without you making it harder.
did you tick the organ donor box?
one decaf soy latte to go please..........

Nobody said you're stupid, but you should be more realistic. I would suggest getting a used standard (no plastic fairings) to start on. The chance that you'll lay it down are very high, and those parts are expen$ive. A new 600cc sportbike can bite you in an instant, and I'd hate a new rider to become another statistic. Liken what we're saying to cars. Would you think it smart to give a new driver a 600hp 70 Chevelle 4-speed as a first car? I think not. If you decide to go with one of your choices, and you ride smart, you will have a nice bike. Please don't be a squid and try to ride like Miguel DuHamel your first time out, or you will get f@#ked up.

Well, he says he's got a lot of experience on dirt with 2 wheels, and so I'm sure his sense of balance and handling of a bike are pretty good, and he's got a couple of years experience driving, so he's used to that...just needs to develop a healthy respect for how invisible we are on the road, and get over the indestructable complex we tend to have at that age (if he has one)...I doubt any sane parent would offer to by a loved one something like that if they didn't think they had the maturity to handle it, and yet I've seen it happen...
A 600cc sportbike would be a handful for me to ride, with 25 years of riding under my belt. Hope your learning curve is very sharp, that's all.
A guy I worked with started off with sportbikes, hadn't learned about how people ignore us on the street, a guy backed out of a driveway and knocked him across the street into the yard, leg smashed where the car hit it. A lot of titanium and physical therapy and skin grafts later he was back at it, bought a 600F2, and promptly got hit in a parking lot...still hadn't picked up on the "nobody sees bikes" thing yet, but at least was able to slide off and get his body out of the way before she hit him...bike was repairable, no serious injury there...
Then he and a pack of bikes were all trying to out-ride each other on the highway, he got cut off by a car that wasn't expecting to be overtaken on the right by something going 90mph...ran him into the edge of a gaurdrail that lopped off the tip of his boot and big toe, and sent him flying out into the dropoff beyond the rail, where he suffered a broken clavicle and ribs and a shattered wrist, along with the toe...
I think it finally got through to him after that one...he quit riding on the street and began going to track days to get it out of his system...

i would still consider getting a used CBR600F or any of the bikes listed in the stickies. although you have experience, trees don't move, rocks may come out of nowhere but they stay still.
nothing says oh shit like a car pulling out of a side street without seeing you, you take action to get around them and then they see you, stopping dead like a dear in the headlights blocking your escape route. hmmm nice new bike now not so new.
even with experience on two wheels, riding a supersport is dangerous and more than a level head is required. i had ridden dirt bikes on farms and had ridden sport bikes only when no-one was around (mind you this was early 90' too) but nothing can prepare you for commuting. its a whole new world.
i also think that the batch your looking at aren't far off the power of my 954 and think how freakin fast that thing is and in the hands of the inexperienced.
in another thread i posted how a 20yr old friend of my apprentice died on a bike doing a wheelie. that didn't affect me. the fact that at their school farewell, principle said that in 5 yrs, five of the students would be dead did affect me. do you want to take the risk of it being one of the five?
