Hello Everyone!
I'm now a proud owner of a 97 Continental and I love
the car a lot. I have a few questions though...
1) My turn signals do not blink, nor do they actually work.
I checked the fuses and they're all good. Only the side
Markers turn on. I'm thinking it is the curcuit board or
motor for the blinker, and probably need to be replaced.
Does anyone know where this is located?
2) What are the common problems you Continental
owners run into frequently? So in the near future,
I know what to watch out for.
Thank you for your help everyone!

Try your signal flasher. Rob one from another vehicle and test it out. They're all pretty much the same. Since the other lights work, I think that a signal flasher needs to work to make a workable connection. It's a cheap attempt for repair.
As for problems, watch out for your air ride and your transmission. The AX4N is an average transmission for durability. If you like to spin the tires on ice or snow, dry pavement etc , you more than likely will have trouble. They also have their share of poor quality factory parts that like to eventually implode, but do drive it nice and you will have your best chance to keep it repair free. Check out other posts on that.
Your air ride is also prone to issues. Connections leaks, rubber air bags will eventually leak and it's all run by electrical components and resistors. Most components can be fixed reasonably if properly diagnosed. If you do have issues, don't let someone replace the works because they've misdiagnosed a leaky are line for example. Check out my post on " Driving without the air suspension", Negatoro gave me some great advice with his 0.02
I've owned a 95 for a few years and I've spent roughly a mere 1 month's lease payment on an average new car in repairs for my Continental annually. I sure can't complain about that. With all that said, I would'nt want to drive anything else.

Hey, thanks for your reply dude!
Actually, the signal lights just started working!! :iceslolan
But my hazards are still not working... Hmmm...
I took your advice on the tranny issue too.
I've owned many fords, most with tranny troubles.
The car sat for over a year, so I took the benfit
to change all the fluids in the car, including the
tranny fluid. Found no metal scraps in the tranny pan,
But found a little gunk on the magnet. Wasn't bad though...
I couldn't get the new gasket on
the tranny pan, so I used the old one, and I noticed
that some of the screws are stripped...
I'm really worried about it leaking now. Drove it
for the last couple days, and no leaks yet...
Once I get some money, I'll take it to a tranny shop
and see what they can do about the stripped screws.
