Oil pressure guage

This one has me perplexed...

When I bought the van I noticed the oil pressure guage (opg) read way beyond the "80" mark.... but it was consistant.

Well, I took a trip yesterday from Kansas City to St. Louis... about 225 miles...

I noticed the entire time that the opg was reading even further that it did when I bought the van. Plus it would jump around every so often. It never dropped below mid-way but it would flutter and then peg.

Anyone know what might be going on with the opg? Might it be the oil pump? The level was fine and it uses no oil.

Thanks

Jason

Most likely the sending unit or the connection thereto.

So this system is not a direct line from the block to the guage? It is an electrical system? If so that makes more sense.

It is an electrical system?
Correct.
