hi guys,
since i'm not doing anything on the repsol '06 for the time being since it's night time when i'm writing this thread, i've decided to build the camel yamaha usgp design after completing the repsol in a day or two. i got this from dave at detail & design. thanks again, dave.
this is the box art.

Looks like a pretty rough resin cast, or maybe it's just the images? Who makes the kit?

the resin part looks rough at first but i'm sure a little scrapping of the excess would smoothen up the parts.
it's cgm.

hi again,
i thought that this is the first time i used alps printing decal but when i see how the setup is like, it reminds me of the msm creation gauloises set that has the yamaha logo made in the same way.
here are the photos of the decals placed. i know that the tail does not match with the '06 version but oh well, there's nothing i can do & cgm didn't provide the resin parts for the tail.
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/decaltoptail.jpg
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/decalbottomtail.jpg
the photo below is the 2 layered decal. i have to place the white template first before placing the logo. this is because the logo is transparent & i have to place the white template as it's opaque.
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/decalseatstopper.jpg
the only disappointment i see is the muffler brand is spelt wrong. i thought it's 'termignoni' instead of 'teamgnoni'. i wanted to show it but the photo isn't clear.

here are the photos of the naked bike in different angle.
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/80completeangle2.jpg
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/80completeangle1.jpg
what i didn't realised is the 'motul' & 'yamaha' wordings which i placed at the bottom of the tail is actually meant for the front fender but by the time i discovered it, it's too late.:banghead:
so, i used the 'motul' & 'yamaha' wording from the kit itself.
wish cgm would come up with the resin part for the tail since the blue lining at the tail is a bit way too long till i have to put it at the bottom part so that it won't disturb the number slot.
since i've cleared up the excess on the resin parts for the fairings & the nose cowl, i'm going to paint them soon. since i looked at the fuel tank resin part is almost the same as the kit, i'll be using the kit version instead of the resin part as i'm having fitting problem as the tank is way too thick. the hardest part is yet to come that is modifying the screen to fit on the nose cowl since it requires the cutting of the screen & that's the first time i'm doing it.

hi again,
i've just done the screen. since cgm does not provide the screen, it provides the template. this is what i've done.
the photo below is test fit. i nearly thought of leaving it alone since i first thought it was a hard work but when i look at it again, i think it's a little off placed & the screen is too low with the tip on the way.
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/testfit.jpg
i cut off the template from the instruction sheet & placed it on the screen. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/screenwithtemplate.jpg
this took me almost 15-20 minutes to cut the screen. this is the pic of the screen after it's cut & the template removed.
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/screensliced.jpg
now that the size is reduced, this is the photo of the screen. i can't tell much of the difference though but the template is way too big when i see it again.
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/yamahayzrm1/camel06/usgp/screenattachedaftersliced.jpg
dave from D & D taught me how to cut the screen. thanks dave.

Not a very good template, I agree on that. I had a look at your earlier posts and the lower side of that seat cowl seems to have some large paint build ups at the edges. Yellow can be hard to apply, especially around sharp edges. Now when the decals are in place it's hard to correct but I would otherwise recommend to strip the paint and apply the yellow in very mist coats to keep the paitn from leaving the edges.
