tranny issues

My 2002 Monte SS has a whining sound coming from the tranny. The traction light is on saying it is disabled. Also, the brakes are terrible but they are all brand new. My G-friend drives the car and this is her description. She stated the car started going crazy and she lost her brakes.

If anyone has any input or advice/experience withthis problem, please let me know.
