I have a 96' tahoe that switches into four wheel drive as normal but does not switch back as quickly or as smoothly. I was told it was a thermal accuator but im not sure. Any reply is greatly appriciated-thanks

Usually the problem with the thermal actuator is that they are slow to engage, but they do have to cool down some to disengage. Any actuator may be slow to disengage if there is some binding in the axle. I put the electric actuator in my 96 K1500 and every once in a while is doesn't disengage immediately and I know its not directly caused by the actuator because I have heard it run when I switch from 2 wheel to 4x4 and back

That sounds like that is the problem. I will look into getting a new actuator put in. Thanks for the advise.
