07 Radio removal/install

Hey everyone i just got my 07' Aveo and i love it however i skimped a bit and just got the AM/FM stereo figuring i could always upgrade later. well now is the time!

however i have brought my car to multiple local installation places and none of them have the "proper" wiring harness or install kits because "it is a new vechical" is what i was told. i have found the install kit, and harness on Crutchfield. however im not to sure about this stero lockout thing! and i have also heard removing the stock stero in an 07 aveo can cause other stuff not to work!

Any Light people can shed on this matter would be great

oh boy, i'm in the same boat as you. I am in the process of changing out the entire system. Right now just trying to figure out what to buy. I'm having a hard time finding out the speaker sizes. I'll be watching this thread closely. If I find out any info I'll let ya know.

i know how ya feel. my girl got her cavalier brand new i beleive its an 05 and she had same problem with stereo affecting other electrical components. when she got her new stereo put in at a local shop she would occasionally get this dinging noise after starting the car like the car door was open. but it wasnt. we checked the doors,the trunk, and the hood. the only way we could make it stop was by unhooking the battery. it took 2 additional trips to the shop to get right.

Hi,dont know if it helps but,I just installed a stereo in my 06 aveo and didnt have any problems ay all.I also used the install kit from crutchfield,Install was a breeze.Never heard of a stereo lockout on an aveo,but am sure crutchfield has and can guide you thru it.They told me the front speakers are 4" dia.and the rears are 6.75dia.Hopes this helps.:icon16:

did you have the stock cd player or just the regular am/fm radio?

Mike, it was a stock am/fm.Two side trim pieces and 4 bolts. Thats it.
