I just bought a 99 Alero GLS Coupe w/leather (58,000 miles) for my daughter. Teh car runs good and the outside is in excellent shape but the inside needs some TLC. I, too have the warping dash pad. I did not notice it when we bought the car because it was at dusk. Shame on me. I have been doing some research on repairing this and want to put something out to there to the group.
I was thinking of buying a hard shell dash cap which you can get for an Alero for around $125-$150. These are molded to fit on top of your existing dash and has all the cutouts. It comes in black and can be painted to match your dash color at extra cost. But I was thinking of taking it to an upholsterer and having it covered in matching leather. Not sure of it will fit as tight with the leather wrapped under the edges. Has anyone put this type of dash cover on - how do they fit and look ? Any feedback would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post.
