destroking a 350....

I am thinking of building a v8 s10 but would like to keep the displacement of the engine down for fuel mileage and i don't want a 4.3. i have a short block out of a 95 yukon that needs refreshing and was wondering what all would have to be done and how low could i get the cubic inches? does anybody sell destroking kits?

Short stroke engines do not necessarily produce better fuel economy.

There are many factors involved in producing good fuel efficiency. Your money may be better spent in improving combustion efficiency through higher compression ratios, efficient cylinder heads, polished combustion chambers, long tube headers, electic fans, high energy ignitions, roller rocker arms, synthetic oil, etc

Agreed with MR. Destroking will provide a better high-rev engine, but not a good mileage engine (unless detuned to the point of anemia). To add to what has been said, a "torque" cam will help more han anything else. I would recommend Comp grind no. 262HR-12. This is a computer-compatible cam for low-end torque, towing power and mileage.

Ya could just git a 283, 305 or a 327 if ya dont want tha cubic inches of a 350.
